The background behind the practice

I've spent twenty-five years building and operating software, writing it and running it in production through three IPOs and eight acquisitions at Amazon, OJO Labs, Rackspace, and Bazaarvoice. My focus is development operations and development experience: the pipelines, platforms, and review practices that let engineering teams do their best work at scale.

AI tooling raises the pressure on that work. When teams ship faster, the systems around the code (how it gets integrated, reviewed, and operated) decide whether the speed becomes reliable software or runaway risk and cost. Backchain is where I bring that experience to teams navigating the shift.

I work with a small number of clients at a time so I can stay close to the actual problem.
